My third Beirut show. I just love their sound and I was happy to be able to catch them during a visit home. I have to admit though, I'm not the biggest fan of their latest album (The Riptide) save a few songs. Amazingly, unlike most bands touring aftering a new release, the majority of the set was from previous work. Some of my favorites included a super short, but well done version of The Shrew (from March of the Zapotec), Nantes (see video below; from The Flying Cup Club) and always welcomed cuts from their debut album--Postcards from Italy and The Guleg Orkestar.
Highly, highly recommended--both live and recorded.
Heck, they added a new show to their tour--one more in DC in December. I'm going again.
